This Australia set (Scott #481a-82) was issued on April 20, 1970, to commemorate the bicentenary of Capt. Cook's discovery of the East Coast of Australia. The se-tenant strip of 5 is composed of the first 5 stamps in the set.
Capt. Cook was honored on the bicentenary of his death, by the Republic of Mali on a set of two airmail stamps issued on Oct. 29, 1979. One stamp pictured a portrait of Cook and his ship as it reached Kerguelen Island in the Antarctic. The other (Scott #C367) pictured Cook and his ship in Hawaii.
The set is totally irrelevant to Mali, which is in Africa, but the design is excellent.
