Stamp Bears is -
a place to relax and talk about our hobby
Stamp Bears is -
a place where we can get to know one another and at times share bits of our life with each other
Stamp Bears is -
a place to enjoy our hobby
to quote our blog
now i have been getting PM's, emails, and even noting a few threads that take issue with a few things that are done here.
for example the use of smileys - some people do not like them while others wish they were always used in context. my apologies - there are times when members, mods, and admins simply do not have the time to write a full response. there are days when we are just checking in and want to let you know we saw it. some times we would like to think that the basic ideal outlined above is the point of this board - TO HAVE FUN..
often times members forget that not all of us have the ability to be retired and have to contend with work, kids, home, and life in general.
often times a members post does not have information *gasp* in truth a lot of times in a topical thread the point is the art not always the information, and at times members simply have no way to find the information. Sure i agree that i (and others) need to get better at trying to provide at least a year and or catalog number but it is not the focus therefor i dont give people grief.
potential solutions for the above mentioned issues -
if you are unsure what a member means - ASK them
if you want to know more about a persons collection or the stamp they have shown - ASK them
If the principals that built Stamp Bears into the site we will make it again are too against what you are looking for - Please forgive me if i politely request you find another site. there are plenty out there that take this hobby too serious, and plenty others where the Moderating and Admin Team will be happy to treat you poorly.

On thing that our great members comment on regularly is that we are.. well "different" from other boards. Some think this is a bad thing because we are NOT absolute freaks over the catalog value of a stamp (oh my yes i really said it), some think that is a bad thing because we "don't take the hobby seriously" (uhhh doesn't that imply that you are SUCKING THE LIFE out of your hobby?).

We feel strongly that this adventure should be FUN and as such so should the discussion of this stamp collecting endeavor.
Of course we talk about value at times and of course we want to chase that "golden ticket" but more importantly we want to share this adventure with like minded people.
We want to inspire future generations, we want to hear a story and tell one to others.
Come share that with us.. Stamp Bears is the FORUM of stamp collectors From stamp collectors to stamp collectors.
