These are the last stamps issued before the Japanese invasion and occupation of the Netherlands Indies.
May 10, 1941 Dutch Coat of Arms Semi-Postal series (Scott #B49-B51) - When the Netherlands were overwhelmed by the Germans during WW2, many Dutch military pilots served in the Royal Air Force for the duration of the war. This semi-postal set was issued to help purchase warplanes for the Dutch Pilots flying with the Brits. The series is sometimes also called the "Spitfire issues". The Inscription on the stamp reads "Netherlands will raise again".
Sept 22, 1941 Islamic Charities Semi-Postal series (Scott #B52-B56) - This charity set was issued to help support various Islamic Charities in Batavia (Jakarta).
1941 Dancer Series (Scott #228-232) - The dancer series was issued shortly before the Japanese invasion. It is interesting to note that the 2c stamp, featuring a Menari Dancer (Scott #N38) was prepared with the set, however before it was planned to be issued, the Japanese invaded. The 2c stamp was placed into inventory at the postal headquarters at Bandoeng, and was eventually issued sometime in 1944, during the occupation. Below is that stamp.
