The Administration and Moderating team here at Stamp Bears are constantly looking to make the site better. We have added and removed features along the way and now we have made a few other changes.
While these changes will effect some directly over all these will improve the sites functionality and membership as a whole. I will review these changes here.
We have eliminated the customized view of the board and now everyone is seeing the board in the same way. Prior we had various "skins" that a member could pick from and more often than not some members were unable to see various emoticons, some of the images, and in some cases the member would loose various functions. to address this we took out the custom view and this has resolved 100% of the issues.
Some members may note that the message "NEW MEMBERS MUST POST HERE" is gone from the introduction area of the board. Feedback over the last few months has suggested that some newer members are hesitant to create an introduction and therefore may not post to the board. The team feels that this may potentially be turning away some great members who want to contribute in conversations about the hobby but not about themselves. In light of this we have eliminated the introduction requirement.
The introduction is still encouraged and the link to that area is now in the Welcome PM that is sent to all members.
While we are sure that the vast majority of new members are great people who want nothing more than to participate in our community, the team still has to have the entire communities safety in mind at all times. Since security it is Stamp Bears #1 concern (After stamps of course) we have opted for a new feature. New members' first few posts will me monitored by the team.
New members may post in any area that they have permission too (certain exceptions apply - i.e the market place). a note that the post is being reviewed will be displayed and an Admin or Moderator will get a notification. If the post is not a spam bot, troll, or formerly banned member the post will be approved and the community will be able to see the post.
Our team is world wide so I do not anticipate new member posts requiring more than a few hours (at worst) for approval, with typical approval within a 45 minute period..
If you, as one of our more experienced members, notice a new member posting on the forum please do not hijack threads with welcomes, rather the next person who posts should say something to the effect of
