Clif's Stamp Questions, Problems, Complaints, & Observations

I've had to fight that same gene within my own psyche. My answer is to be as obsessive as I wanna be about Germany up until 1933 and after 1945 and just skip the Twelve-Year Reich.

As a Balkans enthusiast, I have plenty of stamps adorned with pictures of truly unsavory heads of state. But none of them - or at least not the worst of them; I'm leaving King Alexander out of this, because he wasn't even close to that - came anywhere near to dominating their countries' stamps the way Hitler did on German stamps. I'll put up with the occasional Georgi Dimitrov because at least I don't have to deal with a whole definitive series with his mug on it. I don't think any of Dimitrov's successors (of whom the loathsome Todor Zhivkov was the longest-lived) were even on one Bulgarian stamp. I don't have to put up with pages and pages of people like that. Were I to do that with Germany, I would, the same as you, have lots of pages that I'd never want to see again.

Yes, it would still have the same watermark just different paper.  So it appears you do have a #46.

I was just dealing with this very same problem on Monday when I was working on Switzerland.  I was lost for a while before I realized it was still supposed to be the same watermark.  It's not like the Scott Catalog explains this (at least not where I would have noticed it).

Scott even italicized the explanation. Of course, it would probably be more noticeably if they removed the 90% of the introduction that is not really helpful, so that we could read and notice the useful sentences.

I came into possession of a couple of old albums recently and ran into a conundrum(?) or conflict maybe, with myself in how to incorporate them into my collections. 

Album 1

an old beat up 1930's International album .. one we've probably all seen. Pages are faded and stained and most of the stamps have been removed. Easy peasy ... just go through and remove all the remaining stamps, remount in my album, or save into a glassine, and discard. Right? 

This wasn't too hard for me, although I suspect that the emptied album will reside somewhere on a shelf until it's time to pack and move it.

clif, That is a beautiful album. If it were me, I would keep that one intact. I would just go through it and maybe update, like you said, and add a better stamp where needed and catalog it all. Nice find. I'm jealous.

I would most definitely keep this album as is and add as you see fit. You can add pages as needed and a lot of your work is already done.

When I said intact, I meant intact. Remove nothing. As you mentioned about the hinge mark, that thing will stick out like a sore thumb and will bug you every time you open the page. Leave it alone. Happy "leave it alone" stamping.
