Sorting an envelope of Turkey recently and put aside any flaws I could find.
In this first lot RA208 stamps 1 and 4 are diff color than the rest. I see no notice of this in Scott.
Stamp 2 has large black dot near top of flag pole and imprint at bottom of stamp. Again no mention of imprint in Scott.
Stamp 3 misperfed showing imprint at top. Stamp 4 small white flaw at top of flag pole.Stamp 6 has two small dots to left of denomination.
Also the crescent roams around. fairly common for these stamps.
Can anyone tell me anything about the different colors and the imprint?
The brown-olive stamp with imprint is an official issue of 1 March 1957 in offset lithography for the Turkish Red Crescent Society: Isfila K129. Printed in Istanbul by Pulhan. Matbaasi = Printing house. The dark brown stamp without the imprint is an issue of 1958: Isfila K144. Printed in Istanbul by Pulhan. One source states it is a photogravure stamp, but Isfila also lists this as offset lithography.
stampie78,That is a huge shift surely! when does it become no longer "nitpicking"?
Already suffering from a bad case of collection creep as I am currently collecting Used only - Australia, Great Britain, Canada, Ireland, Western Europe, and Scandinavia, from 1900 to date. Oh and I am interested in Artists and Art on stamps ... Trying to avoid becoming a WW collector.
