I haven't examined the listing/history in detail, so this may not apply, but...

In the past half decade, Scott has been changing the listings when there are multiple minor variety types.

In the past, Scott would list the most common as the major catalog number. In the past, Scott would simply add minor catalog suffixes in abc order. Scott is now making changes to make the major catalog number, the minor catalog number (a, b, c...) reflect all the same issue/printing for the same suffix, regardless of catalog value or whether the stamp actually exists or not.

So let's say suffix a is for a part set/printing issued with inverted watermarks, suffix b is for a part set/printing issued with narrow overprint spacing, suffix c is for a part set/printing on horizontal laid paper instead of vertical laid paper... This means that some catalog numbers might have a "c" but no "a" nor "b", depending on whether the stamp exists in that minor variety.

Normally I really dislike Scott making any sort of number changes. But to be honest, this is one editorial change that has really helped me in sorting/IDing stamps. No more mix and match major catalog number, "a" suffix, then a "c" suffix for stamps in a minor variety set -- for example now everything in that minor variety set should have the "c" suffix.

Of course, now I have to re-catalog those mix & match catalog IDs I made in previous decades.

This is one of the reasons I've been trying to compile all the NADCs for each Scott volume over the years.

I'm guessing that is the case with the Turkish occupation issues.
