I have noticed that with WW collectors, there is a certain level of intelligence and sense of adventure that most collectors have. Philately helps to enrich their knowledge base, as such, I use our stamp collection (which too came from my great granddad to my granddad to my mum and now to me ) as an educational tool for my kids. We home school all of them and as such, stamps have given us a plethora of options and directions/discussions in regards to history, geography, human interests, sports, horticulture and so so many other topics. It only takes one stamp to initiate hours of conversation on many topics. The questions and answer sessions we have along with the Encyclopedia Britannica (1976 version) has given my children so much more of an education than the public school system could ever even think of teaching them. (Having over 1000 books in our library is a bonus. Also, the fact they are trying to change and rewrite history and other subjects in the schools was reason enough to teach our children outside of the system. Too much political correctness any more for my liking. Anyway, enough of that tangent Bottom line is, Stamps have enriched mine, my wife, and my children's lives and I see no end to what they can help teach, not to mention the hours of enjoyment and extended family time. They have also been a great excuse to spend more quality time with my wife, as she enjoys all the persnickety things with colour and stamp identification that I just do not have the time, ability (am colour blind) or desire to do I would rather figure out what exactly it is we have and organize the WW collection. I am currently trying to either design or find designs for the pages in our new book.( I have been scouring the forum to see if there are any downloadable pages or design ideas). She is currently working on filling the rest of the pre 1940 USA collection and everything up to 2000. That is the year my first child was born and two years after that, the lick and stick stamps were mostly gone. 2000 sounded like a great place to stop That being said... This is a good place to end this post Thanks for reading.
