Got a Silly Question ... What is a "Bank Note" Lot??

Banknotes is another name for cash, some people collect them just like we collect stamps.

My opinion: Missionary boxes are meant to imply the stamps were collected by cutting squares from the incoming mail at a mission, which if its worldwide could have a great variety and lots of recent issues. It doesn’t always actually work that way, but take it how you wish. I don’t think the kiloware even really comes from missions sometimes, but is used as a general term to talk about kiloware.

You're probably right. I know years ago I would order "mission mix" from an address and included in the mix was a couple leaflets and other info how you could support the mission by either sending unwanted stamps or cash. I think those are few and far between today. The dealer I buy from has a few lots that "were collected by the mission" or "shipped direct from mission" Doesn't mention if these are actually church missions or if it's just a catchall phrase to cover all kiloware as you mentioned. Personally I don't care where they come from as long as they are collectable.

Just googled "banknote lots" and got lots of pic of lots consisting of world banknotes. I remember from one of my previous dealers auctions that he used to have a few banknote lots listed and those were just World banknotes in a bunch similar to stamp lots. I have bid on and won some of these lots. (the cheap ones) You can see some of them under Stampie78 worldwide currency posts. Don't know if in your query it means the same thing or not

I would guess you will see mislabeled lots too because people don't really understand the terms they are using. Some people just pick something they think will get looked at. Some might say "banknotes" on accident when they meant "banker's box" which is completely different.

The Banker's Box name gets thrown around a lot still today even though all it really means is a box sized to hold manila file folders. Personally, I think lawyers/detectives have used them for holding case files a lot more than banks used them for a long time now, although that is changing since lawyers are using electronic filing tools more and more. Originally, right after income taxes were first created in the USA in 1917 these were used by banks to hold their clients' tax records.
