Archaic Image Posting Rule

I did want to thank everyone who commented. I know everyone wants to make Stamp Bears even better. I do read each post (unless it's made by Kris) and we take all comments into consideration. Some ideas are not possible within the current forum framework, but will be kept in mind if there are major changes in the future that allow.

Give us a little longer, as we really don't to make a rule change only to have to change it again every 3 days depending on which way the wind blows.

Until then, please consider what has been mentioned about the difficulties associated with multiple pics per post and do so with care. I'll admit, I've posted more than one pic per post when it was "reasonable" (my opinion, of course) -- don't give me grief about violating rules unless you drive below the speed limit all the time... blah blah blah.

Here is a lame and self-serving example where I felt posting multiple pics was necessary, but remember those pics were small filesizes: Permit No 542

As others can testify I had enormous problems loading any pictures until "See My Stamps" was set up.  I can now post quite happily, if we start getting told we have to ensure we didn't exceed a certain size then I fear I may have problems again.  I am not good on a computer I can just get by on the basics, if it gets complicated then I am lost.  I already belong to a Cinderella group where, sadly, I cannot work out how to post pictures (can't even do it through "See My Stamps".

We really haven't had this loading/searching drag problem on Stamp Bears. As I mentioned, it's always been elsewhere. So I'm a little hesitant to push a "size limit". As far as I know, we really have no way of setting a filesize limit if you bring your own image hosting, so enforcement would have to be manual. I'd rather we first discuss how to adjust the 1 pic rule (which is also enforced manually, but pretty easy to notice), and then address the filesize issues as needed if the problem comes up.

To me, having a couple of 600dpi pics in a thread page is no big deal. Some of the pics posted, I've greatly enjoyed seeing the fantastic 600dpi pics of album pages, stamp panes/multiples... But if we run into an issue of someone posting 30-50 600dpi pics in a thread page (i.e., 2-3 large hi-res pics in most of the posts on that page), then I might PM that user about spreading it out a little.

I can tell you that in the past, some members have taken the initiative and labeled their threads "pic heavy" as a warning, when they have hi-res pics in most of the posts. That is definitely appreciated.

I would LOVE to do that for you and a few other members who have also made significant contributions to the board. Our provider does not have more stars available though.
