Joining new social media group

I followed your link, created an account, joined the group, got the message “congratulations. You are the newest member of the group Stamp collecting.”

There’s a line that says, “Check out the group here:” and a link to Download the App. Well, the app is already downloaded, and there is no link to the group, and nothing on my home page or in my profile showing any groups, and when I search groups for “Stamp Collecting” does not return any stamp groups. And browsing the entire Groups list would be insane. I tried scrolling through the Hobbies list for several minutes with no luck.

This site makes no sense. Count me out.

Okay, I see it now. It threw me, because I had received a message saying I was in the group.

Mewe is pretty much Facebook but without the ads. Also, you only see what your friends are posting or what's being posted in the groups you join (no promoted posts). It's much cleaner than Facebook, and unlike facebook, it's not using algorithms to determine which posts to show you out of everything you "subscribed" to, it lets you see all of it.

Overall I think it's much better than Facebook in many ways, however I don't see how they plan to monetize it. I think that for them to keep the privacy features they will have to start charging eventually, with Facebook we are the "product" Facebook sells to advertisers so we don't need to pay.

If you don't actively seek out content on Mewe you don't see anything. You have to do all the work of finding groups to join and friends to connect with. This is both a blessing and a curse.
