What you need is a dumb waiter from top room to basement. Of course you still have to do the walking but you will be lighter.
I am having the same problem. I just moved what I need to get by. Passwords/addresses. Now I don't have any time for the next few days other than check in here for a few mins daily. I just make a note of what needs attention and put in my to do box. Should get to work on it in another week or so.
Small price though when kids are involved and when we see so very little of them. These kids of course are middle aged adults but still nice to see them.
Take it easy moving those boxes back upstairs. Just remember one word - hernias.
Thank you. Yes ... not to mention problems with back, wrist, feet.
However, it's not all going back upstairs. My wife has decided that now that she has the dining/living room back, it's "off limits" for stamp work. Clearly it gets out of hand too quickly. So ... it's the basement, my office, or back to the lockers where it belongs.
When we renovated the house in 2008, for "aging in place" ... we talked about a laundry chute to make that a little bit easier. We actually did entertain discussions about an elevator then, but decided that it was too expensive, and we were not yet in bad enough shape to need one. Now I am regretting that decision. We can still do it, but the whole house was torn open and it would have been easier to do then.
Of course, at that time, I never imagined that retired life would be like what it has become.
Today I am inventorying boxes of donations to send the acknowledgment letters. I was 5 boxes away from getting caught up, when a donor rang the doorbell. 10 Banker's Boxes of stamps were delivered.
To stay on What's Stampy ... here is an interesting post card that I found in those boxes I was reviewing, from 1906. I have an interest in StampCraft, and this envelope seemed to have been put together by a collector who wanted to share. Those are all stamps pasted to the card ... it is not a pattern printed on the card.
