Which country produced the dullest stamps?

you know i do not collect a lot of world wide out side of my topical collections but i have to argue that while on the surface many of the countries you have listed seem boring i recall a number of threads on the old board that highlighted just how interesting they can be..

one of the threads that does not seem to have made it over here for example was a great display and explanation of the "Chain Breaker" stamps from Butterfly

i am sure there were a ton of others that got lost (and hopefully will resurface) but that is my position

I missed that thread, too. But I'm guessing it is the Slovenian issue of 1919 showing a man breaking his chains? Yes, no?

Yes, man/woman breaking chains is a theme used by many countries. Additional ones I can think of include Argentina, China, Czechoslovakia, Hungary... I'm sure there are several more countries with stamps depicting man/woman breaking chains.

Hopefully Bear, Butterflies, or someone else can chime in and let us know the stamp in that thread.

I think that the country producing the dullest stamps is a very personal thing. Several years ago if I was asked this I would have said the USA (I know there will be many shocked by this) however, my opinions have changed and would probably now say Italy. Whatever country is chosen someone is going to be upset. I think the most boring set of stamps is now the machins as I feel they have over-run this particular design by a few hundred (I used to love them).

The uglies from Indian states must be a firm contender, But I agree with opinions expressed above: "Beauty or indeed boredom is in the eye of the beholder"

Personally, barring a few exceptions, most stamps printed after 1970 are in the boring class, in fact, most stamps that were not engraved are pretty much wall/waste paper material to me.

Another country that stands out for dullness is post-Ottoman Turkey. Maybe it is an acquired taste that I have yet to acquire. I have warmed up to Sweden and Norway, and maybe I will come to appreciate Denmark someday.

Pillow case is imperative. I found that out the hard way once when I fell asleep on my desk. I woke up with several stamps "affixed" to my face.
