A couple of weeks ago I went to visit relatives and nearby was a stamp auction house who were having an auction in a few days. There were a couple of days when you could go and look at the lots while we were staying there so I persuaded somebody to take me over which they kindly did without demur and I spent three or four hours going through lots which appeared interesting in the catalogue
I've been to a few stamp local fairs and bought quite a bit of stuff on ebay, but I'd never bid on anything in a pukka stamp auction so I was a bit nervous when I sent an email off listing my bids on four things. I was delighted to find that I'd won one lot of a couple of boxes of mixed worldwide stamps that I'd spotted.
Here's what arrived, less than a week after the auction
mostly there are pages of stamps from albums, but there are a few stock pages, a few club books and a few bags of mixed stamps. Many of the pages are groups from old Ideal albums so they will move into Big Red very easily. I have been thinking of putting pages onto ebay too so they may well end up there, I'm already under pressure from the manager to reduce the space that my stamp activities occupy
I'm very much enjoying sorting through the boxes and collating the pages into countries to make the whole lot a bit more manageable. One of the things I'm most pleased about is that there's a lot of South American stuff and one of the lots I missed out on was a whole lot of South American material in albums, but I hadn't realised how much there was in this lot, and quite a lot of it early too. Hours of fun!
