Subscriptions, do you have one?

I strongly recommend subscribing to at least one philatelic journal. I used to regularly subscribe to 3-5, but cut back significantly the previous decade because of time & space limitations. Now, it's my eyesight. I've resorted to digital subscriptions now, although I've always liked the feel of printed material (creature of habit). Down to Linn's and the American Philatelist now.

I prefer turning the pages instead of swiping the screen.

I'll stick to the ones I actually read when they come in. Linn's, American Philatelist, and Topical Time. I also recive several society publications. The ones I find most readable from a general-interest standpoint are The Circuit (ISWSC)^[1]; The Polonus Bulletin (Polonus Philatelic Society); The JAPOS Journal (Journalists, Authors, and Poets on Stamps)^[2]; Der Musikus (Motivgruppe Musik; it's trilingual, which is more than I can say); and Reflections (ESPER, the Ebony Society of Philatelic Events and Reflections). There are others, usually devoted to in-depth single-country studies; these include the Belgian Philatelic Study Circle (UK; its American counterpart has voted to disband) and the France and Colonies Philatelic Society, both of which are very good at what they do. I singled out Polonus for special mention among them because some of the articles venture forth from postmark variants and mail-route research into historical and cultural subjects, of which Poland has lots and lots, making it IMHO easier reading for non-specialists.

I have been a member of the APS for many years.  I found that the articles were very exciting and interesting to read years ago.  Ever since they changed their format several years ago, the articles have gotten boring, to me anyways.  I much rather read the Linn's magazine, normally I read it from cover to cover.
