I picked up few post cards yesterday at a little mom & pop antique shop. There was a few shoe-boxes just crammed packed with this stuff so I only got to go through a few hundred. I chose a few that I thought was endearing and military related (like Free Franking, APO's and military themed pictures) and even a few for my most recent area of interest hometown collection of Clearfield, Pennsylvania. So there is a hodge-podge of stuff. I scanned a few.

Still it's kind of off putting isn't it? Front:

those are beautiful..

As to the Swastika it had meaning for many cultures for eons before the Nazis added their flavor to it.

i am not sure if any other culture used it on a card or stamp but it would be a fun study. i did some research on this a few years ago and gave a presentation on its use and meanings across cultures. it was quite a lively conversation afterwards with collage kids who could not see past their noses.

Bear look into a town -now renamed- in Canada called Swastika I think the gate entering the town may still have the swastikas on them but I am unsure? The new name of the town escapes me at the moment but it would be a great place to start into your research again. There were 2 Canadian town actually that was related in roughly the same way and changed their names I believe? Like I said I can't recall them at the moment but wanted to put that out there for you.
