Amongst the voluminous amount of philatelic material I have what appears to be a complete set of letters that seem to chronicle the route of the North West Expansion b means of a re-creation. Apparent; my Great Grandfather Williams went on this little expedition. I'm unsure of the exact origin of these but I believe, at least in part, that I'm on the right path! (pun intended)
"The Northwest Territory Celebration letters chronicle the daily experiences of a group of re-enactors who traveled from Ipswich, Massachusetts, to Marietta, Ohio, by ox-driven Conestoga wagon and self-made flatboat in 1937-1938 to mark the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Northwest Territory."
I collect United States Classics, classic covers, Tobacco related covers & bill-heads and World fair ephemera (prior to 1930's)
