Newfoundland was the last Canadian province to actually become a part of Canada. Newfoundland was a British Colony up until 1907, when it became a Dominion, which is a self-governing nation of the British Commonwealth. Finally, after two national referendums (that were not without controversy) Newfoundland joined the Canadian Confederation on March 31st, 1949.
Of all my dead country collections, Newfoundland is one of my largest and most advanced. Many years ago, I bought a Newfoundland collection at an auction (for a very cheap price), which became the foundation for this collection. It is about 88% complete, missing some very expensive/illusive items which I will probably never own. While there are still a few spaces of the less expensive stamps, I just haven't taken the time to try and fill them (other than keeping an eye open for them when I am at a stamp show).
Comments are most welcome. - Enjoy
