When one thing Leads to another...

You see Boys and Girls when 2 stamp albums love each other very much they sometimes spend some time alone and well that is how small collections are made...
*cough* ahem... excuse me wrong story...
What i was intending to talk about is how some things in our daily lives either remind us of a collection or bring forth the idea of a new potential collection.. for example this evening the family and i sat down and watched an amazing movie titled "The Book Thief".. I will NOT giveaway anything about this film except the following (no spoilers here!)
it is set during WWII in Germany
and this film is a MUST SEE.... seriously you will thank me later.. (FYI we rented it from Netflix)
before the film started i told out 9 year old daughter to ask us to stop the film when ever she had a question since she is not familiar with this time period (but she is now old enough to learn)... interestingly enough each time she would stop the film she would ask very well thought out questions and even more amazing my 17 year old daughter would either chime in or out right beg to answer the question (hmmmmmm *raised eye brow*)... it turns out when i helped the older child out with her home work and or talked while working on my German collection she was in fact paying attention!!..
needless to say i am extremely proud just now..
now for the stampy relation ship (aside from my talking about the collection while working on it).. this film/conversation has really brought my focus back to Germany even though i was not precisely planning on going there any time soon. do not get me wrong i am not opposed to switching gears but i do find it interesting that such an innocent seeming activity could create such a dramatic set of events.
do you have any "life relating to your collection" type events that you would be willing to share?
