Hello, all! My name is Ronnie and I hail from Baton Rouge, Louisiana in the US of A. I was one of the early members of this forum and set aside collecting for a while but have picked up my hobby again and at the ever so gentle urging of Chris K I'm back to enjoy the wonderful world of stamp collecting with the Bear!
I suppose a good place to start would be a brief synopsis of my collecting interests so here goes:
My centerpiece collection is the United States. All things Untied States from Scott #1 (which I sadly do not yet possess) to the present day though currently my collection is reasonably complete only through 2000 which is as far as my current two volumes of Liberty albums and pages goes through but adding 2001-2013 albums and pages is a high priority and likely one of my next purchases.
My other national collections include Poland, Canada and Liechtenstein.
My only regional collection is Latin America.
Topically I collect the following:
US Non-denominated postage from 1975 through the issuance of the first Forever stamp in 2007
U.S. National Parks with an emphasis on the Farley Era National Parks
U.S. stamps engraved by Chris Calle
U.S. Louisiana
U.S. Texas
U.S. New Mexico
U.S. Love & Special Occasions
U.S. Santa
WW Baseball
WW American Football (though this seems to be confined to the US and Canada)
WW Ships and Watercraft
WW American Bicentennial
WW Nudes & Pin-Ups
Other areas of interest are anything US from the Farley Era, the 1945 Overrun Countries issues, the Presidential Series with an emphasis on finding and collecting color variations; modern stamps with variations particularly in micro printing.
I also have a terrible weakness for covers especially covers with their contents intact though such is quite difficult to find. Another weakness is commemorative postmarks.
As a word of warning to all... I'm prone to photo bombing too!
I'm not all about stamp collecting. My other love is photography in particular photographing street life, abandoned places and the cemeteries in New Orleans.
I am a proud father of four amazing adult children aged 37, 35, 32 and 29 and an equally proud grandfather of six aged 20, 13, 12, 5, 16 mos and 5 months. Two sons, two daughters; three granddaughters, three grandsons. A true blessing.
I have been collecting for 20 years now and it all started with the birth of my first grandchild. I was a bit of a young grandfather and felt I should be doing something "grandfatherly" and had always wanted to have a stamp collection so I used her birth as a catalyst to begin collecting which I started doing within a week of her birth. We celebrated her 20th birthday on December 12th so it's pretty easy to keep track of how long I've had this addiction with those tiny pieces of paper.
So thus ends my introduction, I'm glad to be back and I look forward to getting to know you all if only virtually. Oh and one more thing the old timers on here can vouch for with me... I'm also an avid and fair trader.
Now... let's have some fun!
