Topical stamp collecting-ships,lighthouses and more.

Are there alot of masks and Mushrooms stamps kacyds?
I will add them to my list of stamps to save for members of SB.

I like collecting some topicals but it isn't the focus of my collection. I have topicals on hockey, airplanes, motorcycles, lighthouses, boats, firefighters, police, animals and helicopters.

I collect ships, trains, aircraft BBBBBBBBut my best topical is SCOUTS. Of course FOOTSCRAY is my longest running one, but it has no interest to most people. As far as I know there are only 2 Footscrays in the world- Footes Cray in England and Footscray in Victoria, Australia.

Plenty of "heritage" railways here, with lovely little (and big) steam engines.... including one where I live.... Something romantic (nostalgic?) about travelling by steam....

One childhood dream was to be a train driver and have an engine like Ivor the Engine!

A maxicard does not need a First Day of Issue postmark--just a concordant postmark, if possible. In 2006, at the World Stamp Exhibition/Exposition in Washington, D.C., I created this maxicard with a generic concordance of locomotive--because I didn't have a concordant "same-type of locomotive" stamp. The photo of the postcard was taken in Paris.



I want you to notice that the postmarked stamp on the front is on a TRANSPARENT rectangular label.
On the back, do you see that the horizontal lines are not continuous?
Why? Because the postmarked stamps on the back are completely onto a WHITE label, which obscures the horizontal lines.
How come? Simple: all the stamps, on both labels, were initially on the picture side, well-spaced apart.
After getting the postmarks, I have removed the white label from the glossy front surface, and put it in the back, as you see it.
Thus, everybody is happy!
- USPS got to cancel the full postcard rate (even if I did not mail it; this was just free money for USPS).
- The USPS postmarking person had all the stamps on one side (as the management erroneously required; later I obtained an official reversal of that policy from an USPS executive).
- I have succeeded in creating a maximum card with ONLY the stamp that I wanted on the picture side, and the rest on the backside.
