Until now I have been doing other things beside collecting stamps. Hiking and Back Packing some of the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Penn. Doing it by section hikes with my son.
As of right now I'm pretty much starting over. As you remember I was leading a group of collectors from the West Carteret Stamp Club. In April of 2015 we had an unfortunate incident. After a meeting at the school we had locked up our groups collection. Mine and 15 others. The next day I received a call that someone broke into our secured cabinet stole all the stamps and equipment, and reference books. The school was not really that supportive because it was a private club. The Police investigated and did find out that two individuals (students not in the club) stole than burned all the groups work to include mine. A lot of which people here had donated. We had over 20 boxes which I can not see how they got it out of the school without someone knowing. Well it took since then to go through the courts. The young men were giving basically Community service. Their reason was one of the boys girlfriend was spending too much time with the club. The boys are well connected in the community and the boys will be boys defense was used.
We were pretty well demoralized. Not that we had a lot of money invested or stamps worth much, but time spent. The club has since been dissolved. Some have collected on their own but not the same motivation. School asked that they not be involved.
After a break my daughter and I have started private collecting again.

Just got my cast off and using a splint cast. Trying to get the strength back in my grip. Never thought 6 weeks in a cast would make my hand so stiff. I'm glad I'm right handed.
