My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Bangkok and Koh Samui, Thailand in 1993..lo and behold there was a major international stamp exhibition taking place, the Bangkok world philatelic exhibition 1993, Bangkok, 1–10 October 1993 (FIP)...I managed to drag her there even though we were on our honeymoon. It also happened to be the first time my South Korean wife ever met and talked to citizens of North Korea at the North Korean stamp booth.
Nevertheless, we remain married now almost 25 years later.

I bet it was hard to say what was more exciting, being with your bride or seeing the stamp ex.😄
This makes me think of something that happened with a friend a few years ago. I had a couple af albums sitting on the dining table. My friend asked what they were and and I replied “ part of my stamp collection “ . His eyes kind of glazed over and he suddenly had to leave. I had made no attempt to show anything but I feel he thought I was crazy.
Some years ago, I was sitting in the break room at work. It was a small facility, and there were about a dozen or so of us eating our lunches. I think I was absorbed in a book, or something, and my attention was just barely captured by my best friend's words, asking, "Does anyone collect stamps?"
Thinking I had discovered a new kindred spirit, I looked up and enthusiastically replied, "Yeah, I do."
He looked at me askance, gave a derisive chuckle, and said, "You do?"
