Where do I start a thread to track collecting activity

Sorry about the question but I have been thinking about this for 2 days now so I thought I should ask.
I was wanting to start a thread but not sure where to put it. I have photographed the accumulation of stamps I have been sorting and I wanted to post a sort of "Beginning of the adventure" type post then as I sort, organise, collect and mount them I wanted to update a record what I was doing. I figure it is a way of sharing what I am doing.
As time goes on it will be a bit of history. At the moment the accumulation is world wide but I don't think I will collect that much but I will collect multiple areas such as Western Europe, Scandinavia and a good chunk of British Commonwealth. So I don't think it would fit well under individual countries in the "Members Collections" area. So my question is would it fit in the "World Wide Stamp Collections & Kiloware Stamps" area? Even thought it is not world wide and not kiloware?
Also is that thread a public thread? I know stamps like this are not necessarily valuable but I worry about some member of public perhaps figuring out where I live and it being a security issue. I am active online in the quilting world and it would not take much to figure it.
