Hi my name is Steve and I have been collecting since a young age, my father was instrumental as he was the original collector. As a young-in I did what I was told to do, at least as far as stamps goes, and as I got older I was able to take on many of the tasks my father entrusted me with. I did lose interest for a while as school, cars, still have that issue, girls and friends seemed more important. But by the time I reached my mid twenty's and making a decent living I was able to contribute time and money to the collection. My father still made all of the decisions, with a little input from me, but in the end it was his that counted. He and I would work on the collection on many weekends, as I got married and had kids we all went to visit Grand Dad and Grand Mom allowing me to get involved as much as I could. My oldest was the only one that became even mildly interested but it never took root. Now his son, my grandson is working with me. Unfortunately Dad passed about ten years ago so now the collection is in my hands, I'm sorry he never saw his great grand son work on it but I think he knows. I'm still doing things the way he would have wanted with a few twists. He was the decision maker as to what we bought and I tried to continue in his footsteps for a while but without him there just was no more fun in it for me. Now my mission is to identify, mount and create pages to store all of the stamps left undone till the end of buying about seven years ago. But try to understand as much time as I put into the collection I don't believe I will ever reach the end game. It took almost ten years to identify all of the loose stamps, sheets, booklets, souvenir sheets etc. and divide them up into country files. Now I'm rebuilding one country at a time as I replace pages that are looking a little worse for wear and create new pages to mount all of the many, many unusual pieces that have been accumulated. My Dad liked to collect stamps with selvage attached and wanted them mounted like such, i must hand it to him, I like them too. I'm going to post a picture of the Main Collection as I call it and possibly in later posts I'll include more.
