Another stamp series that so reminds me of being a child and starting stamp collecting. The purple 2-peseta stamp seemed in quantity in every bag of kiloware I bought.
I for one can believe the colour similarity being the reason for the change. The 2 PTA stamp was used so often, I could see people looking for it by colour alone. Its commonness sure indicates to me that it was the current domestic postage rate for quite a long time.

) and they had little opaque plastic bags of kiloware, among low-end stamp albums, hinges, magnifying glasses and a few related philatelic accessories. (I've noticed that Hobby Lobby in the US still sells such kiloware.) That's where I got a lot of the stamps for my collection in the 1970s.
