I have known about this documentary about stamp stamp collecting for some time now, but had never seen it. Yesterday, I was browsing several stamp collecting sites when I saw it mentioned and I developed an urge to watch it. I have a Roku TV and, upon doing a search, I found that Freaks and Errors: A Rare Collection was available for free on the Tubi channel. Even though I was interrupted before finishing it, I found what I saw to be very interesting and well worth watching. If any of you have access to the Tubi channel, I think that you will find it very interesting. I’m getting ready to finish watching it right now!

In 1979, the APS and WPSU (Penn State University) collaborated on a short, 29 minute documentary on stamp collecting entitled Timbromania, which was narrated by stamp collector Ernest Borgnine. As I was very interested in watching it, I searched high and low on the internet and could find no trace of it. I got in touch with Scott English, Executive Director of the APS, and suggested that they upload Timbromania to YouTube and he told me that, since it was a coproduction between the APS and WPSU, permission would need to be granted by WPSU before they could do it. I received an email from Scott this afternoon saying that permission had been granted and that Timbromania would debut on YouTube within a few weeks.

If you are interested in watching it, an announcement will be made in the APS newsletter as to when it will be available to view. For those forum members who are not APS members and don’t receive the newsletter, I’ll make a post later in this thread of when it can be seen.

Timbromania will debut on YouTube on Thursday, February 24th at 7:30 PM EST. Here is a link to a story on the APS website about how the movie came to be on YouTube. It even has a story about me and a photo of my ugly mug, if you’re brave enough to look at it!

I collect:
- An undefinable subset of world-wide stamps, 1840-1963
- Stamps of Iceland, 1873-2003*
- Stamps with bees on them

I am a volunteer, and the webmaster, of Stamps for the Wounded (SFTW). SFTW is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides stamps, covers, supplies, etc. to U.S. veterans.
