eBay to Offer New Shipping Option

Today, I received my first letter from a seller using eBay’s new shipping option to mail stamps. The postage paid was 51c, though I don’t know how much it cost the seller since it also includes tracking. In the original article in Linn’s Stamp News about this new shipping option, it was announced that it would cost less than $1. As you can see by the photos, the seller chose to fold the printout around the envelope and tape it to it, rather than trimming it to fit.

I definitely don’t like the fact that stamps are no longer part of the equation as far as postage goes. Although I’m happy that small stamp purchases on eBay can now be tracked, I think that, overall, I could personally do without this new option, as more expensive purchases are usually sent with tracking anyway. I’d say that many sellers will continue to use stamps, though, as most of them probably have quite a hoard set aside for postage. If I start receiving too many of these, though, I guess there’s always HipStamp!
