Is this a CTO cancel? I've never seen a CTO slogan cancel before. And I am puzzled by the "USE EL." Is it supposed to read, "Use air mail?" I'm no Spanish grammarian, but the word for "use" is "usar," and, according to Google translate, the Spanish would be, "Usar Correo Aereo."
While I don't know if that particular cancel is genuine, it is at least based on a genuine slogan cancel used by the Honduran postal service in the 1930s (but don't know total time period of use). Normally, there is a circular date cancel to the left. The date cancel is close to the slogan cancel, so it should have appeared on the block.
Does it have gum? Is that why you think it is a CTO?
Agreed. The cancels are definitely different, which is why I mentioned that I didn't know if that particular cancel on Tedski's block was genuine.
I don't know if there are different variations on that duplex cancel. I've seen a couple of covers, but never really fly-specked to see if it was one canceller or multiple cancellers. Hopefully someone can chime in with the details.
