So I'm looking at a picture at the Inverted Jenny and I noticed it appeared to be in a mount. So I couldn't help but wonder "What kind of mount does a famous stamp like the Inverted Jenny use?"
Does anybody know? Is it Showguard? Hawid? Scott? Crystal??

You would thing whoever it is they'd make a bit more of a marketing thing about it?

And yeah ..... I could Google it, but it's a whole lot funner to just ask here.

If he did that's probably why it looks like a piece of crap. Those Harris crystal mounts are probably the worst mounts ever made.

I pulled pages of stamps out of bankers boxes that had those mounts and half the stamps were either stuck to the mount or gum disturbed I assume from humidity and sweating. And if the stamp was a tight fit then the mound shrunk and took the stamp with it.

Terrible mounts. If you are going to use mounts use something like Hawid or something similar.

There was one years ago. I think it was called Marlate. Black paper backing with plastic front that was folded over on 3 sides.

Put the stamp in the top and fold over the top side thereby sealing it for eternity. The problem was since stamps need air and this thing

was sealed tight, the whole thing over time would wrinkle and very effectively destroy the stamp. I have a box of mounts somewhere. If I can find one of these I will post it here.

youpiao , Good point! Anyone who would further damage an already heavily damaged rare and iconic stamp has to have more money than sense, even if they only have a dime to their name! Seriously, a lot of philatelists get highly upset if you lightly write the catalog number on the back of a $10 stamp using a pencil, let alone drawing a shoe 👠 on the back of a $10 million stamp in ink! 1662019374

No doubt, apart from a lack of good old-fasioned common sense, ego was also definitely at play here. On a side note, if I’m not mistaken, Stanley Gibbons has already announced that they won’t be following the archaic trend of putting their mark on the back of the 1c Magenta.
