45 Year Reunion With Air Force Buddy

Had a blast yesterday, when an Air Force buddy of mine, whom I hadn’t seen since 1977, dropped by with his wife, on their way to visit his sister-in-law in Alvin. Wow, what names and memories we dredged up. This morning he texted me with a few more names he remembered, and as I texted back in reply, one after another, names I hadn’t recalled in all those years came popping back into my head. Some names I couldn’t remember faces for, and some faces I couldn’t recall names. But, man, it brought back a lot of fond memories.
We were best buds, lived next door to each other in the barracks, worked in the same radar shop, and shared a passion for music and buying record albums. Our favorite pastime was driving into The City (San Francisco), going to Tower Records, and emptying our wallets with new albums.
His wife told me he still has every one of his albums he’s ever bought. I wish I could say the same. Due to an unfortunate stint with a now ex, I no longer have the thousand or so albums I once owned. I loaded them all into a pickup one day and delivered them to a friend.
Anyway. Thanks for obliging me. I know, listening to people recalling their past can be about as exciting as someone showing you their wallet full of pictures of their kids.

After my discharge, I went into a tailspin for several years while I tried to chart a course into the future, during which I lost track of all my USAF pals
