This is the last verse of a children`s poem by Shel Silverstein written in 1996.
Because I had trouble getting a well-focused photo of my 1-pager (it has lots of stamps and printing on it, as well as the last verse of the poem), I am adding, in the next two posts, better views of top and bottom. Also, I have printed the poem at the bottom of this post.
My Nose Garden
by Shel Silverstein (1930-1999) I have rowses and rowses of noses and noses And why they all growses I really can’t guess. No lilies or roses, just cold-catching noses, And when they all blowses, it’s really a mess.
They runs and they glowses, these sneezity noses, They drips and they flowses, they blooms and they dies. But you can’t bring no noses to fine flower showses And really expect them to give you a prize.
But each mornin’ I goeses to water with hoses These rowses of noses that I cannot sell, These red sniffly noses that cause all my woeses, Why even the crowses complain that they smell.
Why noses, not roses? Well, nobody knowses. Why do you supposes they growses this thick? But since there’s no roses come gather some noses -- I guarantee each one’s a good nose to pick.
Greetings Ms. kannik . I applied the Gordon Lee rules of viewing single-page exhibits while looking at yours. These are my results: . Just because you are not able to scan your exhibit, you probably lost a lot of votes. But not mine. You did an excellent job of mixing a real poem with deluxe examples of stamps that illustrate the poem. In my opinion I think that you did the best in combining the two: poem and stamp. . Fourteen stamps and all captioned. Bravo. And one a large SS and three a se-tenant. And your exhibit is not crowded. Bravo again. I also gave you extra points for using the last (and best) stanza of the poem. I can just picture some knucklehead trying to pick that guys nose on the center stamp of the se-tenant. Ha ha! . Great job, Ms. kannik. . Respectfully,
Well, that nose is big enough, anyway! Mister Lee, thank you so much for all the positive feedback! I think one judge faulted me for only having turquoise backgrounds for some of the stamps (yah, well that was so`s you could tell where the stamp ended and the paper began!) As regards scanning, I have a scanner, I tried to scan the page, but I don`t think I could get either a draft (?)(not sure if that`s the word they use) or an actual picture, or else I couldn`t persuade the good scan I got to jump onto the page of the Stamp Bears forum. Since I`m no more technologically inclined than rebooting in every situation, I have quite a few non-functional machines in my place! (For instance, I haven`t watched TV since August 28th - but THAT is a GOOD thing! - I still listen to radio for news!) Thanks again for your vote, and for taking the time to look at my page in such detail!
